Vodafone Dongles & restricted access(pay-as-you-go)[/color] If you are using a pay-as-you-go Vodafone Dongle you will probably find you are getting restricted access on the Net. A quick way to find out is to click on our Note Pad board, if you don't get the Note Pad come up, but you get a notice from Vodafone instead, then this means you have restricted access on your Dongle. You may also have found that some pictures don't appear too. Simple to fix...Call into a Vodafone shop and get them to lift the block. (I think you need to tell them you are over 18 years of age, or something)The block is automatically put on all new pay-as-you-go Dongles as a matter of course, as a child protection screen, they have to assume the user may be a child. and it's up to you to go in and tell them you want it removed. I think Vodafone should make it clear that there is restricted access on the Dongles when you purchase it, so that you can have it taken off at the point of sale. A couple of members were having problems, till this was pointed out to them, they got Vodafone to take it off, now the world is their oyster.........

You can access Note Pad from a new and more convenient pop-up button near the top of the main page now.. look for this button and just click on it.

Hi Roy
Just seen this note regarding vodafone after I put my notice on this morning but I have tried and I am able to see your conversations on Notepad so that is not a problem.

That's good, you haven't got restricted access on yours then. maybe it was taken off when you bought it. some places can be helpful.

Yes I actually bought the dongle direct from vodafone before I sold the house however, I am at Moonfleet now having the engine serviced and when I was moored away from the pumpout shed I again only managed good but now I am at the pumpout shed I have for the first time actually got excellent reception (not G3) but at least I now know that it is the area where I am permantly moored. Looking forward to going down river to try it which might be tomolrrow for a couple of days.

Pleased it was only due to a poor signal. Have you tried putting your dongle on an extension lead and hanging it high up in the cabin? I had a poor signal on my last moorings, so I did that and it made a big difference.

Hi all I have just purchased a 3m extension cable and have had a excellent signal since - great. Mind you I paid £20 for mine from PCW as usual. Thanks for letting me know tooooooooooooooo late again. It is nice to have a good signal though as you can tell as I am again back on the forum.

That's great news about the reception Andy, pity about the price.
