Greetings Now the winter seems to be with us and the boat stove working 24/7, what price can I expect to pay for a bag of seasoned hard wood logs, either Oak, Blackthorn or Ash. I have been offered delivered to the boat side at £4.00 per bag, the bags are ex-animal feed size bags. Coming from a mining area I am not familiar with prices, the net bags of kindling seem stable at £3.00 per net, but I have no points of reference regarding logs, having said that on my last visit to Aldi's they had nets of logs at just over £3.00. The marina is in a rural area were logging is almost a cottage industry so there is plenty of timber for logging about, I wonder if the infected Ash tree wood will be on the market for firewood.
As many forum members come from a well established logging area I thought I would seek you input and advice

I think £3 to £4 a bag seems about average. Cheaper if you have somewhere to store them would be to buy by the ton or truck load. I invested in a chain saw a few years back, so when ever we go up the river I cut up any logs & dead wood that we find and bag them up myself... nothing like free fuel. Keep warm cutting them up - keep warm burning them.
