Hello I have just be given a new (shop soiled) Sestrel Junior Compass with all the fittings, (not that it will be over used on a narrow-boat) but I have noticed a small air bubble, will this effect the accuracy ?

A small bubble will not greatly effect the compass as long as the card/neddle can still swing freely. I would be more concerned about the steelwork making for inaccuracies, assuming it is a steel narrowboat. But like you say, it won't get used too much. billy

Be aware Oscar that a bubble can affect the compass considerably depending on the size of the bubble however, you have to make sure that the compass is seated level. You can also check for accuracy with another compass when siting the compass to check correctness but I do agree with Billy regarding the steelwork.
