hello everybody, we are the couple in spain trying to organise ourselves and get over to buy a boat and live a broad!! few questions if you would be happy to answer if you can? we have seen some fabulous boats for sale in other parts of the country and are wondering how easy it is to a, buy a boat elswhere than the broads, b, have it transferred, and c, would we have to have it licensed for the broads? if it is licensed somewhere else? if you could reply asap it would help enormously, also if anyone knows of boat for sale must be a minimum of 23ft (we really llike the style of norman boats) maximum price 7,000, if finances allow we can update to better boat later! cant wait for your replies and cant wait to meet you all, caroline and dave parker

Hi both. I'm sure between us we can help you out. You can buy a boat anywhere and get it transferred to the Broads but that can cost a lot. There are plenty of boats for sale here to save that expense. Any boat on the Broads needs a Broads License (Toll), a boat safety certificate and insurance. You might find 23ft. a bit small to live aboard but there are those that manage. We found our boat on the internet while we were in France and I'm sure other members know of some good sites. We were looking for a wooden boat so it was a bit different. Nice to here from you again..Martin.

Hi Caroline and Dave, Really looking forward to meeting you both. Moving on for the Winter is always difficult but you know by the following year where the problems are. What is really important is your heating it can be very miserable being cold. On a personal level I like a solid fuel or wood burning stove, because the heat is penetrating and cuts down the condensation. My favourite time for being out on the river cruising is the winter as it is peaceful and you get to see the wildlife. It has a magic of it's own, you'll love it. And now to the important bit, can't wait to taste the paella, looking forward to it. Good luck in finding the right boat. PS. I am Roy's other half.
