Well there's a plethora of companies out there so wondering what companies folks would reccomend for someone with a bargain basement cruiser. Probably valued between 4-10k

Difficult one that, my insurance don't mind me living aboard for a long time but they don't call it residential insurance. But if I want any specific items insured like the laptop or cameras it is quite expensive. What will the value of the contents be? Can you make do with 3rd party and put the other premium to the maintenance budget? Can you fix the damage if you do bent it? I wonder if they do 3rd party fire and theft? It really boils down to how they behave when you have a claim and I haven't yet fortunately. Some may have cheap premiums but what is the wriggle factor like when it comes to paying out? billy

Hi Paul, What you do need is the third party element for public liability. We got this for another cheap boat from 'Basic Boat Liability Co.' Giving £5,000,000 indemnity for just £69.65 per year (the underwriters are Royal Sun Alliance). Any good?

sounds great. Cheers Martin. I'm not a fan of paperwork so once we have our little beaut I'm sure our heads will be spinning and I'll be posting aplenty all over this forum
