well the world of batteries certainly is confusing what with marine, deep cycle, automative to name a few. Need a new starter for our little 30 foot affair which has some old diesel land rover engine (sorry for being so damn techical but boat and engine are 30 minutes away and my head can't remember stuff this early) She did have a cheap 550a halfords affair on her which i think was a poor mans quick fix and wasn't really cutting it. Our drunken mechanic who normally deals with vehicles on land said we need a heavy duty battery but even that doesn't help much as covers a broad area. He did suggest a minimum 90Ah aqnd 650CCA. I am a little lost as any online battery shops throw so many at me ummm (waves white flag) yep dumb ass question from a complete newb to engines but sure someone here can probably shed some light

Rusty I am no expert but over the last 5 years of owning my own boat and living on it for the past 3 years I have learnt that a 110 ah battery is perfect for starting an engine as nothing else should be drawing any power from this battery - the main area for heavy deep cycle batteries etc etc are for running all your lights and TV's and pumps etc. Car batteries are no good they do need to be marine type batteries.
If you look on the for sale site you will find that I have 2 110 ah batteries for sale (cheap) - do not know where you are though. I have 3 of them but have upgraded to 125 ah for my domestics and use one 110 ah for a starter.
You can go onto any search engine and type in marine batteries and they certainly can baffle you I spoke to a boat person (rebuilt my engine) and he recommended what I have now.
